Lucky Landslide

A push-your-luck dice game about a mountain that is always one roll away from coming down on top of you.

Players 2-5 Playtime 25 min Age 8+

Every turn you roll three dice and place them on the terraced hillside board, where each terrace is printed with a load limit. Matching numbers on the same terrace trigger a slide: the dice tumble one terrace downhill and drag whatever sits below them along for the ride. If any terrace ever goes over its limit the whole slope collapses, and whoever placed the final die forfeits everything they had staked on that face of the mountain.

On paper it reads as pure luck, but the actual decision is always whether to bank your dice as points or leave them on the hill chasing a slide that pays you instead of burying you. Two-player games are a knife fight where the first person to flinch loses; with five it turns loud, and most turns end with three people telling a fourth to stop placing dice.

Best suited to family tables and anyone who already likes nerve-testers in the Can't Stop mould. At 25 minutes it fills a gap between bigger games rather than anchoring an evening, and the shared hill means nobody is ever waiting long for their turn.

What we like

  • Turns resolve in seconds, so there is almost no downtime even at five players
  • The shared hillside creates genuine table politics, because nobody wants to be the one who tips it
  • Chunky custom dice and slope markings that read clearly from across the table
  • Scales honestly: two players is a duel, five is a shouting match

What we don’t

  • Luck can settle a round outright, and a player who never risks anything can still win
  • The dice scrape across the board as they slide, and the terraces visibly wear after a few dozen plays

Verdict

A lean, noisy push-your-luck game that earns its place as a filler. Just don't expect the strategy layer to survive repeated serious play.
