About Playz

Playz is an independent board game review site. We are not a publisher, a shop, or a review-for-hire service: the games we cover are bought or borrowed, played at the table with our own groups, and written up from what actually happened. The aim is simple — hand you enough concrete detail to decide whether a game deserves a slot on your shelf and a night of your time.

Every review follows the same shape: the box facts (player count, playtime, age guidance, category), what the game asks of you in the first ten minutes, how it holds up after repeated plays, and a verdict that says plainly who should buy it and who can safely skip it. Ratings use a 10-point scale and reflect the judgement of the reviewer who played the game. They are not an average of user votes, and they are never supplied or approved by a publisher.

Editorial independence is not negotiable. We do not sell reviews, we do not accept payment in exchange for a score, and we do not show a review to an advertiser before it goes live. When we receive a free copy, a demo, or a press kit, we disclose it inside the review. If we get something wrong, tell us — corrections are made in the open, with a note on the article.
